Ride with us to Beerblefish this Saturday (08.08.20)
This Saturday we’ll be riding up to Edmonton to try the wonderful beer of Beerblefish Brewing. Our trip is approximately 40 miles long but will be at a leisurely pace through the streets of London.
The team will meet in Wimbledon South Park Gardens for 11 O’Clock with the aim of getting up to Beerblefish between 1pm and 2pm traffic dependent.
This ride is an easy ride and will be mostly flat. There will be a mix of different rider abilities and bike types so feel free to join on whatever two wheeled (or three wheeled) push bicycle you have.
The weather looks incredibly hot so make sure to bring plenty of water, suncream and bring a bag to carry any beers with you.
We will ride at a speed that the group is comfortable with as we want to be as inclusive as possible and will not leave anyone behind.
Our meeting point for this cycle club ride will be South Park Gardens in Wimbledon. We'll meet at the centre of the park and go from there. This is a spot away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre that is easy to find.
Find it on the map below.
We will aim to meet at 11:00 with the aim of leaving at 11:30. The ride is approx. a 40 mile round trip and we will aim to be back in Wimbledon for 18:00.
We’ve moved our route planning over to the wonderful Komoot app that is more cyclist friendly and suggest safer routes through our busy capital.
We will start our ride from South Park Gardens and ride over to Putney via Wandsworth and Earlsfield. This will allow us to pick up a couple of riders who are meeting us on route at Putney Station.
From Putney we will follow New Kings Road through Parsons Green before hitting the river at Chelsea. From Chelsea we will take the cycle superhighway all the way to the House of Parliament. From here we will circle Westminster square and join the separate cycle path that leads us all the way to Blackfriars bridge.
At Blackfriars bridge we will turn north towards Farringdon and snake our way through the back roads of London through Stoke Newington and Tottenham before eventually reaching our destination – Edmonton.
The Beer spot
We will have the opportunity to hear all about the Beerblefish beers and gin once we arrive in Edmonton and will spend a while at the brewery. However, in order to enjoy our beers we’ll need to take them out to a local green space.
The spot we have chosen this week is going to be none other than Finsbury Park, one of London’s favourite green spaces.
We’ll cycle down from Edmonton with our beers and find ourselves a quiet spot on the park to enjoy a few drinks in what is set to be glorious weather.
The route home.
This ride is very much an out and back ride. We will return to Blackfriars bridge through Farringdon and rejoin the cycle superhighway toward Westminster. From Westminster we will follow the cycle lanes to Putney before climbing Putney hill and heading back to Wimbledon via Wimbledon Common (famous home to the Wombles)
We would be delighted if you wanted to join us on this route, whether it is riding the full distance or picking up the ride as we come by where you live please contact us via email at Haydn@tourdehops.co.uk or join our dedicated Tour de Hops Cycle Club WhatsApp group.
