Ride with us to Wild Card Brewery this Saturday (27.06.20)

Following our interview with Andrew Birkby on Monday, we’re delighted to be riding over to Wild Card Brewery this Saturday.

While their taprooms remain closed (for now) we are able to collect. We’re expecting a slightly larger contingent of riders than our first week, but there is as always, room for more.

The team will meet in Wimbledon at 10:30 with the aim to leave ahead of 11am. While the weather is unlikely to be as warm as it has been this week, make sure you’re prepared with sun cream, plenty of water and a bag to carry any beer purchased at the brewery.

There is also a possibility for rain so don't forget a rain jacket.

As this ride is still one of our early ones, there will be a mixture of different bikes. This could include anything from road bikes to Santander Cycles. To stay as inclusive as possible, we will ride at a speed that the group is comfortable with and make sure no-one is left behind.

Meeting point

Our meeting point for this cycle club ride will be South Park Gardens in Wimbledon. We'll meet at the centre of the park and go from there. This is a spot away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre that is easy to find.

Find it on the map below.

We will aim to meet at 10:30 with the aim of leaving at 11am. The ride is approx. a 31 mile round trip and we will aim to be back in Wimbledon for 16:00.

The route Out

(The route above isn't perfect but gives a good idea)

The route for this ride is quite basic, we will start in Wimbledon and make our way over to Earlsfield via Plough Lane, from here we’ll head up to Wandsworth and emerge at Clapham Common. At Clapham we will join and follow the cycle superhighway 7 which will take us up to Elephant and Castle.

We will continue and cross to the North side of the river on London Bridge. From here we will join the A10 and follow it up to Tottenham before we take a right at the High Cross Monument. We will then follow the road onto The Hale and Ferry Lane.

On the final leg of the trip we will ride over the Walthamstow Wetlands onto Forest Road before a left onto Blackhorse Lane where we will follow the road up to the Lockdown taproom by the brewery.

The beer spot

Described as London’s answer to the Lake District, we’ll cycle back towards the Walthamstow Wetlands and find a secluded spot to enjoy our beers.

The route home

For our route home we will head back through the Walthamstow Wetlands and join the A10, we’ll follow this past Hackney, through the city and back over London Bridge. We will then rejoin the CS7 at Elephant and Castle and ride back through Tooting to Wimbledon.
